Reports suggest that Trump wanted to send the National Guard to Portland, allegedly because he saw footage of the 2020 unrest on Fox News and believed it was happening in the present. When Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek (D) informed him that Portland wasn't experiencing any issues, Trump was reportedly confused, even questioning if what he was seeing on TV was different from reality. Kimmel's response? "Yes, dum-dum, you are ― you’re on a five-year delay from the rest of us." Ouch!
Kimmel also highlighted the concern among Trump's advisors regarding his reliance on Fox News. He pointed out that Trump's inner circle is well aware of the dangers of misinformation from Fox News, given that many of them previously worked there. Kimmel's take? It's "frightening to know the president of the United States is being briefed on world events by the same source as everyone at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Chili’s To Go."
And this is the part most people miss... The implications of a leader being heavily influenced by a single news source are significant. It raises questions about the objectivity of information and the potential for skewed decision-making.
